Dress To Impress!

10 tips to finding your dream wedding dress

  • First and foremost… Budget:

Your first step in finding your dream dress is deciding on your budget. That way when making appointments to attend fittings and showcases you’ll avoid the sticker shock when you fall in love but can’t quite manage the price tag.

  • Consider your overall Wedding theme:

Are you getting married on a Beach or up a snowy mountain in December? Consider your location and the overall theme of your wedding. Your wedding dress will need to be practical as well as show stopping. Gathering some parameters will narrow down the search.

  • Let go of your expectations:

You often hear brides with a really specific idea of what they are looking for. Down to fabrics, colours and fit but unless you’ve tried that precise dress on you can’t be sure it’s going to match up to your expectations on your body. It’s best to walk into dress hunting wide eyed and bushy tailed, prepared to be surprised.

  • Know your body type:

The cardinal rule of style is knowing how to dress for your figure. Try afit-and-flare silhouette to accentuate your waist or a sheath silhouette if you’re tall and slender. Of course, a ball gown with a sweetheart neckline is flattering on any frame! Be conscious of what looks best on you, but throw a little caution to the wind and make sure to try on something new!

  • Select your Bride Tribe carefully:

We all have that friend who’s honest with us in all situations. Sometime’s brutally so…. Bring that friend. It’s lovely to see a tear in your mothers eye and hear words of praise from your pals but you also need an unbiased opinion to help when it gets down to the final few options.

  • Get a jump start:

Starting about 6 – 9 months before will ensure you have plenty of time for fittings and adjustments. Most wedding dresses are made to measure and that can eliminate certain options if you don’t have the right time frame. If you are short for time Bridal boutiques often offer off the rack dresses for excellent prices.

Let Me Entertain You!

Wedding Entertainment

A wedding is a day full of laughs, joy and celebration. It is also a chance to show off your awesome personalities. Entertainment can contribute to both of these areas. It can boost the energy of your day as well as being a ton of fun. They also act as a great ice breaker for guests who might be meeting for the first time. And with so many awesome alternative entertainment ideas out there to pick from you’re bound to find something for you. Below is a selection of some of my personal favourite alternative wedding entertainment ideas.

Mingo Magic Mirror – Mingo Magic Mirror will add a touch of ‘glam’ to your event.  Stand in front of the mirror and touch the specially integrated touch screen to take a full length photo.  Once your photo has been captured you can personalise it by writing a message on the screen.  The Magic Mirror also has a selection of emoji stamps you can add.  Prints are ready in just 10 seconds.

Magic Mirror is a great ice-breaker for your guests and brings something extra special to your celebrations.  Unlike a traditional photo booth the Magic Mirror is an open air style of booth.  This means everybody can see what is going on which encourages more interaction. If you’re are looking for something different to the usual photo booth experience you’ve found it – your guests deserve to be ‘Flamingorgeous’  For package options, pictures and testimonials head over to their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mingoentertainments/

Christmas is already going great here at Buckatree

IMG_1830

In the words of Slade – It’s Christmaaaaaassssssssss!

Now Halloween has passed, everyone seems to be turning their sights to the next festival and here at Buckatree it’s in full swing.

We have bookings left right and centre for our Christmas events and activities. In fact, we’re having to put on extra events to cope with demand.

Everyone seems to be in the swing of it a lot earlier this year and are busy booking up nights out, lunch parties and general get togethers.

Back in September bookings were already up compared to that time last year, so two months on we are really bursting at the seams now. A party at Buckatree is always a great occasion and words seems to have got around about that. We hope to be able to cater for everyone who wants to attend, so our advice is to get in quick.

We have increased our line up of Tribute Lunches throughout December to 7 of them and included 3 Tribute Dinners as well.

Buddy Holly, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Neil Diamond, Elton John and Tom Jones join us in the afternoons, whilst the girls from ABBA, Elvis & Elton John and Rod Stewart & David Bowie join us in the evening – or at least their best impressionists do.

We still have availability on some dates (although our All-Inclusive parties are in high demand so you better be quick!).

For more information on our events or to book visit the Christmas Parties page here.

BMX stars arrive in Telford

As General Manager of Buckatree Hall Hotel, and a resident of Dawley, I must say how excited I am about watching the British BMX Series and hosting some of the BMX stars of the future at the hotel.

As a Dawley resident I walk past what I now know is a national standard BMX race track and home to Wrekin Riders BMX Race Club.

During the weekends and some weeknights I see youngsters and their parents going for BMX training at the end of Duce Drive but I never quite knew whether it was open to all, or when.

I’ve since found out they do novice sessions every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12pm, a ladies only session on a Friday and club training and expert level sessions from 12pm every Saturday and Sunday and Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Then the big news came… this small club, run by just a handful of dedicated volunteers, is actually hosting the final two rounds of the British BMX Series on August 6th and 7th at this track!

So what does this mean? It means around 3,000 people will be coming to Telford (including 950 riders aged from four upwards), staying in hotels (we are welcoming a number of them), camping on Malinslee playing fields, eating, drinking and shopping in the local area and also giving the people of Telford a taste of the BMX action.

What a great boost to the local economy. Well done to Wrekin Riders for taking on the challenge.

It is free to spectate so I know I’ll escape from work at some point over the weekend to watch the action. Road closures and diversions will be in place to make way for caterers and there’s no doubt the volunteers will be working around the clock during the weekend (practice starts on the Friday at 4pm) and the weeks leading up to the event to make it a success. We must take our hats off to everyone at Wrekin Riders.

I decided we wanted to give something back – we are already a part of the trackside sponsorship scheme with a banner advertising our hotel – but I was so overwhelmed by the club that I decided Buckatree Hall Hotel should also sponsor a new bike.

This means another novice rider will have the opportunity to start their BMX journey.

I’m sure all at Wrekin Riders will have their eyes firmly fixed on the Olympics as they host their own event.

Well done to all at Wrekin Riders. Make sure you follow them at www.facebook.com/wrekinriders.

I must just have a go myself one of these days… but we better inform A&E first!
